The Incarnation is the heart and soul of pastoral ministry, and it is also the foundation stone of pastoral theology. Our pastoral work finds its center in Christology that is not a mere abstract theological idea but a living reality. Such incarnational ministry always has a specific address. That’s what makes it ministry, and that’s what makes it challenging.
Now I find myself in a prosperous suburb of Minneapolis in a congregation with its own history and culture. I am listening carefully and learning how to blend into this wonderful and complex congregation and community. It is a never-ending and delightful journey among God’s people.
