Clinical Specialist, Solid Organ Transplant
Mayo Clinic
Nonprofit; 10,001+ employees; Hospital & Health Care industry
June 1996 – September 2004 (8 years 4 months) Jacksonville, Florida Area
During my tenure as the senior solid organ transplant pharmacist, I established four transplant pharmacy programs for the Department of Pharmacy starting in 1998. These transplant programs included liver, kidney/pancreas, lung and heart transplantation. As a new transplant program, all aspects of pharmaceutical patient care and protocols were developed or co-developed with the transplant team. Development of several drug protocols under my purview included immuosuppression, anti-viral, anti-biotic and anti-rejection protocols.
I participated on the Liver Transplant Selection Committee and in daily rounds with the transplant team for several years providing clinical expertise on drug therapy. I assisted in recruiting and training five pharmacists that went on to oversee each of the inpatient transplant programs as well as the ambulatory transplant clinic position. I have collaborated with the transplant team on numerous clinical trials both institutional and multi-center. I have also conducted a pilot clinical trial on Hepatitis B Immune Globulin pharmacokinetics and mentored several pharmacy residents in the development and execution of their clinical trial required for completion of residency training.
In 2006, I transitioned from this role to the Mayo Clinic Specialty pharmacist responsible for development of an Medication Therapy Management program
