A recognisable skill of Alvar to create urbanity in the places of serene, untouched nature is here very noticeable in the placement of the volumes. This is further being built upon by Aino’s interior vision. All the rooms are namely, having a connection with the outside garden, which together with the sun terraces act as a generator of flows, while at the same time allowing for the generous intake of natural light. The fullyembraced level play is one of the key peculiarities of the interior. For example, the height difference between floor level of the living room and the office corridor is being bridged not by the staircase, but by a simple wooden bench, which serves both as a communication and a seating. These kinds of multifunctional details are in some regard a human scaled feature of all the rooms. There is no fear of experimenting with colour or texture, yet those are carefully curated and balanced. Aino worked a lot with fabric design, which enhanced the Artek furniture. She also designed and built custom furniture pieces such as storage unites below in the dining room and below the stairs. The dining table is surrounded by lavish, rustic Italian chairs which Aino brought home from the study excursion with her husband. Lighting fixtures are in essence reflecting their appreciation of Nordic light, being mounted very low for cosy winter moments and formed as veryjoyous as objects, for observation during long summer days.
