The Basic Makeup class is split between hands-on training and classroom theory, for a total of 35 hours. At Christine Valmy International School for Esthetics, Skin Care & Makeup, we understand that you need to balance your family and work life with your education,so we offer full-and part-time schedules to fit your individual needs.

Course Description:

Makeup is an extremely versatile discipline, and the prevailing trends are always on the move as fashion and styles change. This course starts you with the basics from color theory to how to work with an individual’s facial anatomy. We’ll teach you how to apply makeup in a variety of settings, how to correct issues, how to correctly use products and tools, and how to create an artistic look.



Topics covered in this course:

Basic Makeup focuses on theory as we discuss the science behind makeup (from anatomy to how colors are perceived) before continuing in how to prepare the face, basic application of makeup, and how to achieve some common, artistic looks.



Color Theory: This section of the course teaches you how colors work together, and gives an understanding on how different lights and colors work together will help you determine the correct types of makeup for a given occasion.

Facial Anatomy: An introduction to the basics of what comprises the face, and facial anatomy’s relationship to how we apply makeup.

Skin Preparation: Preparing the skin greatly affects how well makeup stays in place. Student will learn about how to properly cleanse the skin and what protective lotions to apply.

Foundations: Building a solid foundation is the first step towards beautiful makeup. Students learn how foundation relates to color, and how to use different foundations to conceal problems.

Basic Application: This segment focuses on the aspects of makeup that are always necessary, before focusing on how to achieve certain looks.

False Eyelashes: False eyelashes give a striking, dramatic look. You will learn how to apply false eyelashes to achieve the desired look.

Day and Evening Makeup: This segment focuses on the differences between day and night makeup. During the day, women need a natural look that has the versatility to function in many different lighting situations. At night, a more striking look is desirable.

Product Knowledge: Learn about how various cleansers, lotions, foundations and makeup products work together to create the look women desire. We’ll also find out you about various ingredients and how they work together to create products.

Makeup Tools: There are a great many tools used in makeup to achieve various effects, or to create tiny details. From brushes to pens to crimpers, you’ll study them.

Corrective Techniques: Makeup has the ability to conceal or mask skin problems and conditions. This segment will demonstrate how to achieve the look women desire, even in less than optimal circumstances.

Job Perspectives: Makeup is used in a variety of industries, so we’ll help you pick the one that interests you most. We’ll also help you with resume and cover letter writing, and how to approach interviews with potential employers.
