In the face of the fast-developing world, especially in the IT field, I feel excited yet stressful when committing myself to this career. Growth Mindset helps prepare myself to be a lifelong learner, which is an essential quality as an IT professional. To tackle the difficult IT languages (Java, C#, Python, etc.), I shall embrace the foreseeable challenges with efforts and strategies, instead of seeing it as an obstacle to my learning. As I have a high expectation on myself, sometimes I do feel stressful and used to ignore the stress. However, in the long run, I realize that it is not good for my health (I suffer from stomachache) and mental health (low concentration and anxious sometimes). S-ABC model let me have a chance to review my stress from a holistic perspective. I shall foster a good habit, for example, to avoid drinking coffee because it sensitizes my amygdala and activates the HPA-axis and might overproduce the stress hormone and cortisol in the long run. Moreover, I shall do exercise regularly to reduce the level of cortisol and generate BDNF (Brain-derived neurotrophic factor), which is good for neurogenesis that could improve my learning and memory, as well as regulating my emotions.
