It just struck me that the so-called “ego”(often criticized/condemned by New Age thinking) is, actually, a kind of safe haven from the complexities, rigors, depths of the real world. Most of all, it is a refuge from feeling. As such, it is an arid, cramped space but preferred by many to the rich, chaotic (often threatening) world of emotion. It’s a rabbit hole, a time out and, in someways, an actual relief, especially, in these days of emergency and stress.
