mobility platform is enhanced with data computational devices and software applications with data capture and analysis capabilities. Real time video/imagery data collected by responders’ mobility platform from scene of disaster is transmitted to CPV using a mobile ad hoc network. A touch screen based interactive information provisioning mechanism ensures delivery of information relevant to responders’ needs. Time-dynamic positioning provides both operational and strategic responders with critical information about existing location of responders and resources and provides better orientation and resource allocation analysis. To enhance SA at a strategic level, a geographic information system application supported by a decision making algorithm is developed to effectively manage available resources and route them based on the work demand. Field trials of the implemented system components were conducted at the Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI) training arena in parallel to a Rescue and Hazardous Material exercise conducted by the Illinois Army National Guard and is discussed in Pen˜ a-Mora et al. (2008b).
