Hence, the set of IMFx is the final decomposition of the original signal x(t). The steps of the approach we propose are summarized on figure 2 whereas figure 3 illustrates the approach ability of correctly separating two frequencies while the classical EMD fails. The considered signal is composed of two close frequencies components which are pure sinusoidal tones at f1 = 31 Hz and f2 = 30 Hz. The frequency f0, the sampling frequency Fs and the sample number N are chosen equal to 29.5 Hz, 44.1 kHz and 220000 respectively. These values relatively correspond to those used in phonocardiogram domain. Figure 3 shows the proposed method (βn = 1 3) successfully separates the two components while classical EMD fails (β =0 .97).
