In athletes with a history of injury that had returned to participation (n = 293), 32% percent reported that their most recent injury had been < 6 weeks, 36% selected 6 weeks to 1 y ago, and the remainder selected > 1 y ago. Based on time since last injury, the DPA-PSC and FABQ differed between groups, however no differences were detected for the DPA-MSC (Table 4). Post hoc comparisons revealed that athletes in the < 6 weeks group reported significantly decreased function on the DPA-PSC compared with athletes in the > 1 y group (P = .013, r = .18). No differences were detected between the other groups for the DPA-PSC or between groups for the FABQ (all Ps > 0.017).Based on time to return to play for the most recent injury, 22% of athletes sustained no time loss injuries, 24% mild, 22% moderate, and 32% severe injuries. Based on time to return to play for the most severe injury, 7% of athletes sustained no time loss injuries, 13% mild, 22% moderate, and 58% severe injuries. Lastly, based on the athlete’s perception of severity for their most recent injury, 39% chose mild, 47% chose moderate, and 14% chose severe. No HRQOL differences were detected between groups for any of the injury severity comparisons (Table 5).
