in 2014 we will celebrate our 60th year in business and are truly grateful and humbled by the trust granted to us by our faithful customers. The family of Elizabeth companies has grown to become one of the world’s leading manufacturers of tablet tooling, tableting presses, blister pack tooling, turrets and press parts in the pharmaceutical industry. The company also serves a diverse group of industries including oil & natural gas services, hot forge tooling, battery, chemical catalysts, nuclear fuels, propellants, electronics, and confectionery industries to name a few.
Elizabeth Carbide Die Co. Inc., world headquarters for Elizabeth, was founded by Melvin B. Peterson in Elizabeth Township, a suburb outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Starting as a six man shop in 1954, Elizabeth Carbide introduced the use of carbide punches and dies to the pharmaceutical industry in the United States, establishing themselves as innovators in the compression tooling industry, a quality the company still strives for today.
Over six decades Elizabeth has grown organically and through strategic acquisitions. Elizabeth Carbide Components (Latrobe, PA), was established in 1974 by local acquisition. Today Elizabeth Carbide Components is a leading provider of precision grinding services of tungsten-carbide and ceramic materials to the oil and natural gas service industries as well as many other.
Elizabeth Carbide of North Carolina (Lexington, NC) was established in 1977 in response to our rapidly growing pharmaceutical punch and die tooling business and specializes in the manufacture of round compression tooling and hot-forge tooling.
Upon reaching the milestone of three decades in business Elizabeth took the bold step of partnering with Hata Iron Works of Kyoto, Japan to establish Elizabeth-Hata International (North Huntingdon, PA) in 1984. Today Elilzabeth-Hata International is a leading supplier of high-speed rotary tableting presses for pharmaceutical and industrial product manufacturers.
In 2000, Elizabeth acquired EPMO of Blois, France; a known leader in tablet compression and blister packaging tooling, to increase manufacturing capabilities and provide unsurpassed service to the European community.
