I've left this subreddit. Gone somewhere with less drama.7 points ·4 years agoPlease, please research the medicines you plan on taking. Yes, hrt will cause sterility. It usually takes a few months to do so (and some people remain fertile for much longer), but it's best to assume that sterility is going to happen if you take hrt. Breast tissue growth is permanent. There are also serious side effects involving your liver, kidneys, and various cancer risks (prolactin tumors, for example), so you need to get bloodwork done. It sounds like there are ways to set that up online as well... Perhaps someone else can elaborate?level 2StarPineTransgender1 point ·4 years agoI live in Oregon, this is legal, right..? I mean, is it legal for me to start hormones on my own..???How can I get bloodwork done? I don't have a car. Would I tell the doctors my plans of starting hormones without seeing a gender therapist or anything? What are the odds of me getting any side effects, anyways?? I am pretty healthy.Any advice/tips/suggestions? :P I want to start hormones but I can't get a prescription right now due to me living with my highly transphobic parents. You don't have to tell them. Can't you just go to the doctor while telling them you're doing something else? Where can I get some HRT pills online?Inhouse seems the most common source. Will the pills make me infertle? Just curious.Yes, after a few months. Depends on the drug also. It will happen much quicker on cypro than on spiro, as cypro is way more effective at shutting things down (this is a good thing for suppressing T though). I am 100% sure that I want to start hormones. I have felt like a girl for a very long time. Please don't try to talk me out of it!
