On the other hand, the author of Acts evidently intended some events to be understood as unique occurrences. Many of the current events he recorded are simply factual reports that were never intended to establish standards for all believers and churches to imitate. One purpose of this study is to enable the student to determine whether each of the events reported in Acts is normative or one-time-only.
The nature of Scripture (including Acts) is to reveal to us the will of God concerning doctrine (what we are to believe) and practice (how we are to live). By listening to and learning the principles, we will not only be receiving everything He desires to show us in Acts but we will also be fulfilling Jesus’ command to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30).
