I incorporated the Industry Partners model into three capstone courses over three consecutive years. In the first year, two industry partners—a programmer and a graphic designer—alternated weekly visits. In the second year, an Agile developer/coach visited weekly, and stayed for the entire class. In the third instance, a Web developer/business owner visited every other week for an hour. I met with each industry partner several times prior to the beginning of the term to plan jointly the curriculum and sequencing of the course. We shaped the course content to take advantage of the industry partner’s area of expertise. So the course that had an Agile developer as partner focused significantly on Agile programming practices, while the course that had a business owner as partner focused more on entrepreneurship.
