The soil erosion averaged for each land use type of the Loess Plateau from 2000 to 2010 is shown in Fig. 5.
Flat cropland had low erosion rate and bare soil for high, neither of which changed significantly over the decade. Slope cropland showed a progressive reduction of erosion during the decade. The erosion rates increased from forest to shrub to woods, but the rate of decline in erosion increased in the reverse order, i.e., it declined more for woods than for forest.
The erosion rate was lower for dense grass and declined at a slower rate over the decade than for moderate and sparse grass (Fig. 5).
