2. Difference of “in the Spirit:” A related issue is the question of the nature of the difference between humankind’s experience “in the Spirit” in the Old Testament as opposed to the New Testament. Some argue that there is a qualitative difference between the Old Testament and the New Testament experience of the Spirit. Reference is often made to the difference in language used to describe the experience.
