Starting from the mid 1980s, discussion on language learning strategy hasgained attention in relation to second/foreign language acquisition. This paperaims to provide the studies on foreign/second language learning strategies (LLS).It is discussed from the aspects of definition of LLS, the classification of LLS, thefactors that affect learners’ LLS choice, and the training of LLS. It alsoaddresses the importance of lecturers in helping students to discern whichstrategies are relevant to their learning styles, tasks, and goals; and aiding studentsin developing orchestrated strategy use.
