Our results indicated athletes with a current injury reported decreased HRQOL in comparison with athletes with a history of injury and those with no history. More specifically, currently injured athletes reported functional limitations on the DPA-PSC and increased fear-avoidance beliefs. The DPA-PSC contains questions such as, “Do I have pain?”, “Do I have impaired motion?”, and “Do I have difficulties with performing skills that are required for physical activity?”. Athletes are then asked to score these questions from “no problem” to “severe problem”. Therefore, if an athlete or patient reports their pain severely affects them, and they have severe difficulty performing skills that are required for physical activity, they have decreased HRQOL as it relates to physical function. This information is imperative for clinicians to gather when providing patient care as clinicians can tailor their treatment plans around the patient’s limitations and restrictions as assessed by the instrument.
