An advantage of the flexibility of the SROI instrument lies in the fact that, in the hand of a skilful provider, it can render and serve a wide spectrum of existing interests. Despite this range of possible focuses, however, the core of SROI remains: an SROI study records social impact in the sense of a “return” yielded by the funds and activities invested. With this, it supplies not only an “SROI report”, but inevi- tably also leads to organisational learning, through which the organisa- tion can optimise its impact model and orient its activities even more strongly towards the social impacts to which it aspires.
