the specimen, fixed in formalin, consists of 4 pieces of gray and softtissue, 0.3x0.2x0.2cm. all for section. microscopically, section shows esophageal mucosa with acanthosis and chronic inflammation. there are cardiac type mucosae with eqithelial hyperplasia, active & chronic inflammation, and focal intestinal metaplasia. no evidence of malignancy is noted.
