Responsibilities:
1.Monitor specimen collection, identification, transport, storage, and processing to ensure quality of specimen before testing.
2.Prepares reagents, standards and controls according to prescribed procedures.
3.Performs tests and sample analysis in the areas of clinical chemistry, hematology & Blood Bank, microbiology ( ID&ATB included; ID&ATB excluded), immunology and/or Body fluid analysis.
4.Verifies test results prior to release.
5.Performs quality control to ensure proper functioning of instruments, reagents, and procedures. Recognizes instrument malfunction and out-of-control test results, takes corrective action and reports to the supervisor.
6.Maintains test equipment and instruments, following established procedures.
7.Answers questions of physicians and nurses concerning laboratory tests, accepts complaints, and initiates corrective actions.
8.Trains new employees the laboratory techniques.
9.Gives lectures on lab test techniques or related diseases in laboratory.
10.Participates in education class and continuing education programs. Attends workshops, seminars, and lectures to keep current on new instrumentation, techniques and procedures as assigned by the chair.
11.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
