Life blossoms as the sun gathers strength, coaxing reluctant petals into full bloom. Birds return from dusty lands to swoop once more in the pure blue skies and over the grassy meadows. There are sweet, sharp strawberries to be found - like red jewels hiding in the leaves - and flashes of yellow and black to be seen, as bees chase the honeyed scent of pollen. The hedgerow plants grow fat and green. These months belong to the flowers - to the drooping bells of foxgloves, the white petals of the daisy, ready for love me/love me not playing, and the deep red bowls of the poppy. Animals bask in the abundance of the near-infinite evenings; sticky with fruit, drunk on nectar, all are at peace in the buzzing, humming, lazy-long time of SUMMER.
