Chemours Colleagues,I’m deeply saddened to report the death of a contractor at our Altamira Plant in Mexico, which occurred late Sunday, December 1, 2019. The investigation is still underway, but we know that a contractor working on a job related to Line 1 reaction area maintenance fell through an opening in the top of the chlorinator, which was offline at the time. His injuries were fatal. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the individual who lost his life in this accident. I am confident we will come to a good understanding of the circumstances and contributing factors which led to this tragic event, and apply those insights to preventing future injuries. This is a difficult time for everyone at the Altamira site working hard every day to make safety job #1. We offer our mutual support as they investigate the incident and manage operations through this tough time.
