One of the most important functions theatre can perform in the context of transitional justice is to inspire and encourage empathy and solidarity. In Serbia, according to Miloševic ́, many people do not feel empathy towards victims of the recent past. In that sense, theatre can call out directly to peoples’ emotions and, as a result, can help people accept what had happened: there is no genuine acceptance of the past without empathy for its many victims.
