Characteristics, Purposes, and Theological Themes
There are a number of distinctive characteristics, purposes, and theological themes that mark Acts from beginning to end. Like most introductions to Acts, we provide separate lists for these three categories. Some of the points overlap categories and are listed more than once. These are important. As a passage is being considered, learn to discern when a major characteristic, purpose, or theme is finding expression. It will then be easier to connect it with other passages where the author is exhibiting that same characteristic, purpose, or theme. Learning to read books of the Bible in this way is an important step in becoming a more sensitive and informed interpreter.
