Myanmar president leaves for ESCAP meeting in Thailand
YANGON, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar President U Thein Sein left Nay Pyi Taw for Thailand Monday morning for a single-day attendance at the 69th meeting of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in Bangkok, official sources said.
The meeting will discuss natural disaster alleviation in the Asia-Pacific region and matters on coping with economic crisis and challenges with UN Millennium Development Goals.
Besides, U Thein Sein will be awarded for his social and economic undertakings at the meeting.
The meeting, which lasts from April 25 to May 1, is attended by top leaders of 41 countries.
