Life in Medieval Times
•Women were the property of their menfolk, and were married by about 14. They cooked, spun and weaved, and tended to the animals and the children.
•A serfwas a peasant farmer who was either bound for life to work the land of a lord, or chose to do so in exchange for the lords protection.
•Lunch for a serf might be coarse bread and vegetable soup.
•Bathing was a rarity even for the rich. A rich person might have a bath just several times a year. Washing hands and face was more common but if there was no well this was done in the stream, the same place where waste water was disposed of.
