For both partners, the time commitment was what they expected, but the expectation and the time spent varied. One partner presented information in the course multiple times. This was a significant amount of work, requiring about a half a week total work outside of the time in the class. The other partner spent little time on the program outside of the class time, as he expected.
Both industry partners recognized significant impacts on students because of their participation. This was both in a broad sense (e.g. validation of course material as being important, being able to bring in application of technical or theoretical content), and in a much more narrow sense. In this latter category, several specifics were mentioned including learning about working with clients, recruiting clients, and addressing specific, technical
matters. One partner noted that the most significant impact on himself was personal satisfaction. The partner who presented material to the class indicated that he improved his teaching and communication skills.
