The average age of study participants was 32.7 ± 8.7 years, with a mean residence time of 21.8 ± 14.0 years. The average household had 5.1 ± 2.4 residents, and participants had an average of 2.2 ± 1.5 children. The majority of participants had completed secondary school, and an additional 34% had at least some post-secondary education. Women in the subset that responded to the more detailed survey, compared to women not in the subset, had comparable ages, household sizes, and fish consumption frequencies, but had spent more time at their current residences.
