The poor adherence, particularly of the exercise component questions the acceptability and therefore feasibility of this intervention in its current format. Providing specialist exercise interventions in this population didn’t result in any changes in physical function because most of this group either didn’t want to do it or were limited by their health status. Although there is evidence that some of those in a care home population wish to take part and can benefit from participating in exercise, more research is required to identify factors that contribute to favourable outcomes and how to optimise long-term adherence to exercise.
