Incarnational Pastoral Ministry
Pastoral ministry is rooted in the incarnation of Christ. We are the servants of the One who willingly entered into our our world and took on the burden of humanity in order to rescue us. The central motivation of an incarnational ministry is the love of Christ, which Paul confessed compelled him to pastoral ministry even with the rogue Christians in Corinth (2 Cor. 5:14).
We are called to specific addresses where Christ’s church lives and worships. At its most basic point, our calling demands that we incarnate ourselves into our churches and their communities. That means that we must understand our people and their culture so well that we can think their thoughts and feel their heart cries. We must join Jesus on his brokenhearted ride into the city of Jerusalem.
