Requirements are established by ‘end use.’ This means if a material meets the requirements for use in a lifestyle shoe, it can’t automatically be used in all the other end uses. Category leaders and developers need to be aware of their category testing requirements.
2. There are some added tests, highlighted in grey. We expect the labs to run these tests and record the data for the material, but no evaluate to a PASS/FAIL expectation.
3. Change the classification of “upper” and “lining” to “Outside” and “Inside”. For example, what we used to call “Textile Upper” materials, we now call “Textile Outside” materials.
4. This is update only affects outside and inside materials. We are not ready yet to release the new material requirements for shoe components (laces, webbings, eyelets etc.) or sole materials (EVA, rubber etc.). This will come in the near future.
5. Testing should still be done according to the current lab manual. We will release a new lab testing manual in July and the “Method” column will be updated to reflect the new naming system of the test methods.”
