A peasants house
•Houses today are much more comfortable than those of medieval villagers.
•Peasants houses had earth floors, roofs of thatch, and wattle and daub walls (a mixture of mud straw and manure). Windows had no glass, and furniture might consist of straw mattresses and rough wooden tables and benches. Many animals, including rats, also lived inside the house.
•The was no running water, toilets, baths, or wash basins.
•No lord would have lived in such circumstances. Manors were built of natural stone and they were built to last. Their very size was an indication of a lord's wealth.
