Twenty PCG data of healthy subjects are collected according to a clinical protocol. An example of first heart sound is displayed in figure 5. The decomposition of this first heart sound using the MD-EMD and f0 = 35 Hz is also shown in figure 5. The time split between the components thought to be M1 (IMF2) and T1 (IMF3) is estimated to be 16.5 ms. The decomposition of the same signal using the classical EMD is shown in figure 6 and the identification of M1 and T1 is not obvious. Indeed, the IMF2 and IMF5 have the same spectral band as IMF2 and IMF4 respectively.
