This work is to understand the sub-synchronous and inter-area oscillations of the traditional AC power system, and investigate both LCC and VSC HVDC technologies and their interactions. Possible new control strategies for hybrid HVDC system regarding AC system oscillation damping and DC fault will be proposed while the controls desogned will be validated using RTDS simulations
