Epicutaneous application of allerge

Epicutaneous application of allergens by APTs elicits a local T-cell-mediated responses. Immunologic examination of biopsies from APT lesions showed initially a Th2 cytokine pattern, and after 48 hrs, it showed a Th1 pattern like in chronic lesions of AD (26). Circulant Th1 cells are involved in the IgEmediated reaction to allergens. However, the cutaneous Th1 cells differ from those in other organs (27, 28). This may explain why we found that APT to egg and cow’s milk had a low diagnostic accuracy.
