Maintain a balanced ministry. When you look on the mission of the church as a whole, you can avoid extreme emphasis in one direction to the exclusion of another. As indicated in Lesson 8, a pastor may be evangelistically oriented.

Lesson 12: Setting Priorities
In that case, for instance, if you are totally committed to evangelism, this may be what the church “specializes” in. If so, what do you do with those who are already evangelized? Should you preach only evangelistic sermons? No, of course not! Maturing Christians need spiritual food that represents a different spiritual diet (Hebrews 5:11–14). Your study in the New Testament will guide you into a balanced ministry. You will see from the balanced teaching in these Scriptures that the church does not exist exclusively for evangelism or any other one type of ministry. The church needs a strong, balanced ministry for all those who are in the family of God at different stages of spiritual growth.
