Among the notable interior projects of Aino, is couple’s own home in Helsinki’s region Munkkiniemi. House Aalto’s elaborate interior consists of living and office part. These two create an interesting functional dialogue, which manifest both on the inner and outer form. The material distinction on the façade level is brought inside, in form of different materialisation for each functional zone i.e. wood is more present in living part versus painted plaster and brick in the office. While giving an appropriate playground for showing some of the most iconic furniture and lighting pieces of Artek, the house is also reflecting the designers’ clear appreciation for rationalisation of the space, clean forms, honesty of materials etc. However, the whole space is conceived as primarily cosyand tranquil environment, simple yet inspiring. Clearly, people who lived in this house enjoyed their time there. The couple’s children were, according to Schildt, giving credits for the homey atmosphere of Aalto house to their mother.
