I changed the name of the program from Industry Fellows to Industry Partners, because most my students and industry liaisons were not familiar with the term “Fellow” in its intended academic context.
I instituted weekly sprint reviews, which allowed each team ten minutes to present their work from the previous week to the class and the industry partner. After each presentation, the partner participated in a class discussion about the work, offering a professional critique. I also provided an opportunity for one-on-one “consults”between the industry partner and student teams every few weeks throughout the quarter. The partner typically spent 10-15 minutes with each team, answering questions and offering suggestions.
