An efficient method for the design of digital filters suitable for digital hearing aid, is proposed in this paper. The method utilizes Farrow structure based variable bandwidth filters.
The required variable bandwidth response is obtained by using a single parameter, b. A fixed number of bands are generated from the variable bandwidth filter by means of spectral shifting of the required bandwidth response. The difference in the overall
response from the corresponding audiogram gives the matching error.
This method is applied to a set of standard database audiograms as well as on some real hearing loss data of patients.
