Eighteen of the 37 players with on-going shoulder pain had a known diagnosis given by the medical consultant. Seven of the diagnoses could be classified as inflammation (‘‘inflammation’’, ‘‘tendinitis’’ and ‘‘biceps tendinitis’’), six as ‘‘instability’’ or ‘‘muscle weakness and/or imbalance’’, two as ‘‘rotator cuff impingement’’, one was described as ‘‘overuse injury’’, and one as ‘‘tensed infraspinatus’’.
