In an emergency condition it is possible that the overhead emergency lights are not sufficient. This is when smoke enters the cabin. In order to give sufficient lighting of the aisle, cross-aisles and exits in floor level height, a Floor Proximity Emergency Escape Path Marking System (FPEEPMS) is installed in the cabin. It is electrically integrated in the emergency lighting system. The FPEEPMS is different according to the A/C configuration.Optionally, a Photo-luminescent floor proximity Escape Path Marking System can be install. The photo-luminescent stripes are charged by incident light provided by the normal passenger cabin lighting, including sunlight. When the cabin darkens, the photo-luminescent stripes ''discharge'' the stored energy in the form of a luminescent glow.
