7th year of international award of student design
CONTEST PROPOSITIONS
The city of Zlín has introduced the very top in the field of industrial design and innovative
technologies. Neither can it go unnoticed what great luminaries for example prof. Zdeněk Kovář or
prof. Vincenc Makovský were in their field. The realized designs by Zlín designers have received many
prestigeous awards, both domestic and foreign.
We are aware of this obligatory legacy of our past and tradition. We also realize the importance that
quality and creative design plays in the modern world. Our aim is to carry on the spirit of the
professionals from the past by supporting the designers of the future – the young Design talents.
It is for this purpose that the Martina and Martin Růžička foundation announces this international
contest of student design – DESIGN TALENT.
1. THE OBJECT OF THE CONTEST
1.1. Object
The object of the contest is to award exceptional student works from the field of design. The
submissions will be awarded in these categories:
1. Industrial design (design of machines and equipment, design tools, transportation design,
etc.)
2. Product design (large series product design, interior design and furniture, etc.)
3. Art design (low-volume product design, architectural design, conceptual and critical design,
design glass, porcelain design, ceramics design, etc.)
4. Fashion design (clothing design, textile design, design footwear and accessories, jewelry
design, etc.)
5. Communication design (graphic design and illustration, new media, visual communication
and intermedia, web animation, etc.)
1.2 Contestants
Competition is open to individuals, which this year reached the age of 30 years old and younger.
Competition is open to individuals and copyright collectives. Login to the contest are not subject to
the fee.
1.3 Announcement of the contest
The competition will be publicly announced in a press release, also published on the
www.zlindesignweek.com/en/talent website and other appropriate means.
1.4. Announcement and annunciation of the results
The result of the contest will be publicly announced by the announcer at a press conference and will
also be published on the website www.zlindesignweek.com/en/talent
1.5. Contest proposals
Only contest proposals created after 1. 1. 2011 and not submitted in the previous years may
participate in the contest.
2. TERMS OF CONTEST
2.1. The date of the contest announcement is 16. 11. 2015
2.2. The date of the contest proposal submission – the closing date of the contest
The deadline for submitting the contest proposals in person, by courier or by mail is 2:00 p.m. on 15.
2. 2016. In the case of electronic applications, midnight of the same day.
2.3. The date of the contest jury meeting to assess the contest proposals is set for the month of
march 2016.
2.4. The date of the contest results announcement
The results will be announced at a press conference as part of Zlin design week.
2.5. The period in which the contest prizes will be paid
The period in which the contest prizes will be paid is set for one month from the public contest
results announcement.
3. CONTEST PROPOSAL SUBMISSION
3.1. Possible means of submitting the contest proposals
A. electronically
The contest proposals may be submitted electronically by means of a form found on the site
www.zlindesignweek.com/en/talent
B. by mail
The contest proposals on CD/DVD may be delivered by mail to the address: Nadační fond Martiny a
Martina Růžičkových, Zlín, 2. května 2384, 760 01. In the case of submitting the proposals by mail, it
must by handed to a post license holder or special post license holder, courier or a person who has a
similar status in another country so that the proposal is delivered to the announcer by the closin date
of the contest. In the case of delayed delivery, this proposal will not be included in the assessment.
C. in person
The contest proposals on CD/DVD may be submitted on any working day beginning with the day of
public announcement of the contest between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in the seat of the announcer in
Zlín, 2. května 2384
4. REQUIRED MANDATORY PARTS OF THE CONTEST PROPOSAL, ITS CONTENTS, MANDATORY
GRAPHICAL LAYOUT
4.1. General requisits of the contest proposal
Each contest proposal consists of two parts: application and attachments. Those contest proposals
that do not comply with all the parts described below will not be accepted.
4.2. Application
Each of the contestants must fill out an electronic application which is available on the site
www.zlindesignweek.com/en/talent
4.3. Attachments
Each contest proposal consists of three attachments:
a) Presentation poster of dimensions 100 x 70 cm (orientation – portrait) in pdf format (300 dpi) at
maximum size of 300 Mb.
b) Textual part which will include a concise conception descript
