A Christmas Carol is a satire which is very meaningful. In the book, the main character Ebenezer Scrooge, who is a cold, mean person, becomes a nice guy after he meets the three different ghosts of Christmas. Each of them gives us a lesson. The first of them, Ghost of Christmas Past, shows Scrooge his own past. By experiencing this, Scrooge realizes that he was a good guy but gradually became mean to others. Thinking of this situation, I think we should all look back to our own past, and try to find out what we went wrong instead of blaming others. The second one, Ghost of Christmas Present, takes Scrooge to see those who are poor but enjoy Christmas. In the end of the journey, there are two kids, Crime and Need, mocking at Scrooge, who refer to the words Scrooge said before. This event tells us that when we are poor, we can just take care of ourselves, but while we become rich, then we should help those in need. The last one, Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, who doesn’t speak at all, shows Scrooge the world after his death and of course, his own grave, meaning that if he doesn’t care about others, no one will remember him but laugh with joy even after he dies. It lets us know that power and money aren’t everything. When we die, they vanish, too. I’ve learned lots of lessons from this book, which really inspires me a lot and changes the way I think. The most important, it tells us how to build our characters.
