Garstang, in Lancashire in the north of England, is the world's first fairtrade town. Garstang became interested in fairtrade through the local Oxfam group. The group started campaigning local shops. Now 16 shops stock only fairtrade products and lots more sell fairtrade products with their other goods. Students from local schools have also visted Ghana as part of Garstang's Go Global project and set up links with schools in New Koforidua. While the students were in Ghana they helped build a playground at a primary school in New Koforidua.
