Course of labour and experience of the birth
As shown in Table 2, the partners of men of average and young age more often had a normal vaginal childbirth, compared with partners of men of advanced age, who tended to more often have undergone emergency caesarean sections, although this is a nonstatistical significant result (p?0.23). There were no statistically significant differences with regard to onset of labour or augmentation between partners of men in the three age groups. When looking back three months after the birth, the older men assessed their partner’s labour and birth as more difficult (advanced age
42%; average age 41%; young 32%; p=0.05) and they also less often had a very positive experience of childbirth (advanced age29%; average age 36%; young 43%; p=0.03).
