The chronic glucose feeding increased the IR index significantly (P < 0.01), as estimated by HOMA (Fig. 4A). Chronic treatment with argan oil insignificantly decreased the rise in the IR index in glucose-fed rats; however, the value of argan glucose–fed rats did not significantly differ from that in control rats (Fig. 4A). Oral feeding with corn oil normalized (P < 0.05) the IR index in 5-wk glucose-treated rats (Fig. 4A). As shown in Figure 4B, both argan and corn oils decreased similarly the IR index in glucose–fed rats, but the reasonwhy argan oil treatment did not significantly decrease the IR index is that two argan glucose–fed rats had higher values.
